Berks Splits on the Opening Day of NEAC Playoffs

Penn State Berks took their opening game to advance into NEAC Women's Volleyball pool play and fell to University of Dallas to close out day one of NEAC Playoffs.

The women opened up the day as part of the #8/#9 play in game against College of St. Elizabeth with the winner advance to NEAC pool play.  The Nittany Lions defeated the Eagles in straight sets (25-21, 25-10, and 25-18).  Leading the way for Berks in the play in game was Jerica Detsch (Junior/Dieruff) who finished the match with 9 kills, 5 service aces and 7 digs.  Glenda Ngo (Freshman/Annandale) assisted on 22 of the teams 30 kills while Krista Stancombe (Sophomore/Nazareth) led the defensive charge with 14 digs in the match. 

Penn State Berks closed out the day against # 4 seed University of Dallas and fell in four games (26-24, 21-25, 18-25, and 12-25).  The women were unable to use the momentum from a game one win and committed 27 errors in the loss.  Suzi Shelton (Freshman/Daniel Boone) led the offensive charge with 9 kills while Jerica Detch ended the day with 7 kills and a team high 15 digs. 

The women will return to action on Saturday when they play top seed Morrisville State at noon and end the day with # 5 seed Keuka College at 2pm.
