Berks Ends Best Season in NEAC Semi-Finals
Penn State Berks women's soccer teams completed the best season in the programs history with a 2-0 loss to Penn State Harrisburg in the North Eastern Athletic Conference Semi-Finals on Saturday morning.
Penn State Berks ends the year 14-6 (8-3 NEAC) while Penn State Harrisburg (15-2 (9-0 NEAC) advances to the NEAC Championship game against Keuka College on Sunday.
Harrisburg scored late in the opening half on an unassisted goal by Lindsay McNeal in the 36th minute to give Harrisburg a 1-0 halftime lead. Berks was unable to mount any offensive pressure in the opening half as Penn State Harrisburg outshot Berks 10-0 in the half.
Harrisburg did not miss a beat after halftime continuing the offensive attack recording 15 shots in the second half. Penn State Berks keeper Cassidy Dawson (Sophomore/Governor Mifflin) recorded 7 of her 9 saves in the second half to keep the game within reach. Harrisburg added an insurance goal in the 65th minute when Allie Rank fed Corinne Mazzotta for a 2-0 advantage.
Penn State Berks was unable to get an offensive attack going as they were outshot in the contest 25-1. Harrisburg also held the advantage in corner kicks with a 3-1 split.
