Senior Courtney Bailey (Dauphin Co. Vo-Tech) scored a career high 35 points and grabbed a game high 24 rebounds including 17 in the second half to lead Penn State Berks (13-9) to a 69-61 win over St. Elizabeth (11-11) on Tuesday in the Beaver Community Center.
The Nittany Lions jumped out to an early 5-1 lead with Bailey scoring all five of the teams points in that stretch. The Screaming Eagles would 8-7 at the 15:08 mark which would be their only lead of the game. Berks put together a 10-4 run to push their lead up to nine points (25-16) with 7:35 on the clock.
The nine point lead would be the largest of the half but St. Elizabeth used a 6-1 run over the final two minutes of the opening half to go into the break down four (32-28).
Berks pushed the lead back up to nine points over the opening seven minutes of the second half with Bailey again doing most of the damage with six points and three rebounds in the stretch. In addition to Bailey's double double Jasmine Harris-Kane (Junior/Simon Gratz) contributed her first double double of the season with 12 points and 10 assists in the game. Steph Binder (Junior/Wilson) was the only other player in double figures with 11 points.
