Women Snap Three Game Skid with Win over Morrisville
Penn State Berks (9-8) snapped their three game skid by defeating Morrisville State 57-52 on Sunday afternoon.
The Nittany Lions trailed early in the game falling behind 6-4 with just under four minutes gone by in the opening half. Berks would put together a 12-3 run over the next ten minutes that was capped off by a Dorian Bishop (Junior/South Plainfield) three to build a seven point advantage. The women would hold the lead the remainder of the half and went into the locker rooms with a 25-21 lead.
The host Mustangs came out of the locker rooms looking to take control as they were able to tie the game at 27 with 17 minutes to play. Berks was able to regain momentum with a 9-2 run to push the lead back up to seven points at 36-29 with 11:16 on the clock. The Mustangs would cut the lead to two scoring five straight points before Berks took control for good. The Nittany Lions led 36-34 with 10 minutes left before using a 12-2 run over the next four minutes to build a twelve point lead and never looked back.
The Nittany Lions were led by Courtney Bailey (Senior/Dauphin Co. Vo-Tech) who turned in her fourteenth double double of the season with 16 points and a game high 20 rebounds. Steph Binder (Junior/Wilson) contributed 15 points on 6-12 shooting and 5 rebounds in the win.
Katrina Brown led the Mustangs with a game high 19 points, Tekesha Hanson finished with 15 points on 6-15 shooting while Dyana Williams led the Mustangs on the glass collecting 12 rebounds in the loss.
The women will return to action on Tuesday when they host Keystone College at 7pm in the Beaver Community Center.
