Berks Ends Season with Loss in NEAC Quarter-Finals at Penn State Harrisburg

Penn State Berks (7-19 (0-1 NEAC) entered the NEAC Men's Basketball Tournament as the # 6 seed and traveled to # 3 seeded Penn State Harrisburg (16-10 (1-0 NEAC) where they ended their season with a 92-79 loss to Penn State Harrisburg on Friday afternoon. 

The Nittany Lions, who never led in the game, shot an impressive 50% from the field but turned the ball over 24 times in the game which contributed to the loss. 

The first half started off with Penn State Harrisburg opening up a 15-6 lead over the opening five minutes of the game.  Berks would cut the lead to two (17-15) on a Kemian Flowers (Sophomore/Wyomissing) layup at the 14:03 mark of the half before Harrisburg took control of the game.  Harrisburg used a 24-11 run to build a fifteen point lead (41-26) with just over seven minutes remaining.  Berks was able to cut the lead to ten points (53-43) as they headed for the locker rooms.         

Penn State Harrisburg came out in the second half and took complete control of the game building as much as a 21 point lead throughout the half.  Kemian Flowers led the way for Berks finishing the game with 20 points and 9 rebounds.  Jeff Schmidt (Sophomore/Parkland) ended the day with 17 points and 9 rebounds while Vonte Shippen (Sophomore/Norristown) finished with a double double of 14 points and 12 rebounds. 

The loss ends the career of Adam Fusco (Senior/Norristown), who will leave Penn State Berks as the men's basketball program's all time leading scorer.  He finished his career with 1,228 career points good for 12.8 a game.
