Fusco Leads Berks, Men Fall to Delaware Valley

Penn State Berks (1-8) placed four players in double figures and shot 43.5% from the field but it was not enough as they fell to Delaware Valley College (6-5) 96-72 on Wednesday night.

The Nittany Lions who never led in the game were outrebounded 46-37 and turned the ball over 17 times which contributed to the loss.

Delaware Valley used a 10-3 run to open up the game and build an early seven point advantage over the Nittany Lions.  Berks would cut the lead to 12-9 on a Kemian Flowers (Sophomore/Wyomissing) jumper at the 13:12 mark in the first half before the Aggies took control of the contest.  The host Aggies took the next six minutes and used an 18-7 run for a 30-16 lead with seven minutes remaining in the opening half.  Delaware Valley would coast into the half with a 44-27 lead.

The Nittany Lions came out of the half and would have no answer for the Aggies.  Berks trailed by as many as 30 points in the half and eventually fell to the Aggies 96-72.  Adam Fusco (Senior/Norristown) led the way for Berks with 21 points on 8-14 shooting going 5-6 from three point range.  Kemian Flowers finished the night with 17 points and a team high 8 rebounds while Vonte Shippen (Sophomore/Norristown) chipped in with 11 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in the loss.

The Aggies were led by Jason Goldheimer with a game high 22 points while Darryl White ended the night with a double double of 16 points and a game high 14 rebounds.

Penn State Berks will return to action when they host SUNY Morrisville on Saturday as part of a men's and women's doubleheader.  The men will tip off at 3pm in the Beaver Community Center.
