Fusco Leads Berks, Fall to Cazenovia


Penn State Berks (4-13) held a 67-64 advantage with just 21 seconds remaining in the game and gave up six points to fall 70-67 to Cazenovia College (1-18) on Saturday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions missed three foul shots in the last minute of play including Adam Fusco (Senior/Norristown) going 1-2 with 21 seconds remaining and Michael Perone (Freshman/Middlesex) going 0-2 with 14 seconds on the clock before the Wildcats Bryant Winans took over the game.  Winans went 4-4 from the charity stripe and recorded two steals in the last eight seconds of play to give the Wildcats their first win of the season.

The Nittany Lions shot 40.7% from the floor including shooting 45.2% from behind the three point arc but managed to shoot just 38.% from the charity stripe which contributed to the loss.  Adam Fusco led the way for Berks finishing the night 19 points and 4 assists while Michael Perone had a career high 12 points with 4 assists in the loss. 

Cazenovia was led by Bryant Winans who had a game high 24 points on a 7-16 shooting night including hitting six from three point range.  Matt Phillips and Malik Arnold each finished the day with 12 points in the win.

Penn State Berks will return to action Sunday when they finished out the weekend at SUNY Morrisville with a 3pm tip off.
