Walker Leads Berks in Losing Effort

Stevens, PA (October 13, 2008) - Sophomore Jeremy Walker (Lancaster, PA/Lancaster Christian) shot a 8-over par 80 and finished tied for third as the Nittany Lions shot a team total 360 Monday afternoon in a losing effort against visiting Cabrini College hosted at Foxchase Golf Club.

Walker started the day off a bit rocky, bogeying three out of the first five holes but kept his composure and finished the final four holes in the front nine one under to put him at a 2-over 37.  He then started the back nine with two straight bogeys followed by two pars.  After a par at 15 and 16, Walker ended his day with two straight bogeys to leave him at an 8-over 80 for the day.

Sophomore Fran Doyle (Glenside, PA/Abington) shot a respectable 17-over 89 with his brightest moment of the day coming in the back nine when he birdied hole 12.  Freshman Mike DeWalt (Elverson, PA/Aleithia) finished the day with a 19-over 91 and Matt Kibblehouse rounded out the top four with a 28-over 100.

The visiting Cavaliers shot 318 as a team to defeat the Nittany Lions by 42 strokes.

This match concludes the Nittany Lions fall schedule.  We look forward to an exciting run for the 2009 NEAC championships next spring.
