Steve Hart will be entering his third season at the helm of the Penn State Berks Baseball program. He is coming off a historic run for Penn State Berks that concluded with the school's first appearance in NCAA Tournament play in any sport.
Hart led the 2009 baseball team to their first ever NEAC Championship after needing a play in game to qualify for the double elimination tournament. Penn State Berks entered the tournament as the # 4 seed and swept through the tournament. Coach Hart led the team to a 22-23-1 finish and a 7-6 NEAC record.
Under Hart's guidance The Nittany Lions have advanced to consecutive trips to the NEAC Championship game and a trip to the NCAA Regional's following the 2009 season. He has produced a 39-50-1 overall record and a 17-10 NEAC Conference record in his two seasons with the program.
In addition to his coaching efforts Hart serves the Reading area as a PIAA and American Legion Umpire since 2003. He is no stranger to the Reading area, before his days as an umpire Hart was an assistant coach at Albright College from 1999-2003. At Albright Coach Hart specialized in assisting hitters, outfielders and catchers along with his recruiting responsibilities.
Coach Hart is a 1999 graduate of Millersville University where he earned his degree in Business Management along with his accomplishments on the field. Hart left Millersville ranking 9th all time in RBI's with 94, 11th in doubles with 31 and 14th in hits with 145. His play helped to lead Millersville to a visit to the 1998 NCAA D-II World Series finishing 5th.
Along with his coaching responsibilities Coach Hart works as a
District Manager for The Reading Eagle. He resides in Reading
with his wife Kelly and daughters Kelsey and Kayley.
Todd Louviaux will be entering his first season with the Penn State Berks Baseball program.
Louviaux brings a wealth of baseball knowledge and experience to the sidelines at Berks. He is a member of the Bucks County Community College Hall of Fame playing one year of baseball at BCCC. He was a member of the Point Park College baseball program where he led the NAIA team to the College World Series and was a two year member of Temple University's baseball program.
Louviaux owns and operates two indoor baseball academies and is associated with AAU baseball in the Reading area. He is the Head Coach of the 14 and under Triple Threat Travel Baseball program which competes all over the United States.
Louviaux is a graduate of Temple University where he earned a
dual degree in Marketing and Business Administration.
Ron Schaeffer will be entering his third season with the Penn State Berks Baseball program.
Schaeffer is a 2008 graduate of Penn State Berks and was a three year starter with the baseball program before becoming an assistant coach. He joined the coaching staff during his senior year after exhausting his playing eligibility.
Along with his responsibilities at Penn State Berks Schaeffer is the Head Junior Legion coach with the Conrad Weiser legion program as well as serving as an assistant coach with the Berkshire Baseball Organization.
Schaeffer works at Wilson High School in the Autistic Support
Department and resides in Reading, PA.
Coach Zientek is in his first year as an assistant coach with the Berks Nittany Lions baseball squad. He is a 1986 graduate of Penn State University Park and holds a BS degree in Ceramic Science and Engineering.
Coach Zientek has been coaching Junior American Legion baseball in Berks County (Exeter and West Lawn) since 1989 and is currently the head coach of the Exeter Senior American Legion team.
Along with his coaching duties Coach Zientek is currently the Vice President of the Berks County Area Junior Legion League where he also served as League Secretary for numerous years.
Coach Zientek resides in Wernersville with his wife Kim and
their three children Samantha (13), Sophie (11) and Ethan (8) and
is employed full-time by Wholesale Millwork as a Location Manager.
