Krysta returned to Penn State Berks in the fall of 2009 after serving as the Assistant Athletic Trainer and CHAMPS/Life Skills Coordinator at Gwynedd-Mercy College for the 2008-2009 academic year. She served as the Head Athletic Trainer at Penn State Berks for two years before heading to Gwynedd Mercy in 2008.
Krysta came back to Penn State Berks through Commonwealth Orthopedic Associates (COA) sports medicine outreach program and is part of a knowledgeable sports medicine team that includes fellowship-trained sports medicine orthopedic surgeons, fellowship-trained sports medicine/orthopedic primary care physicians, sports physical therapists and certified athletic trainers. COA is also the official sports medicine provider for the Reading Phillies baseball team and the Reading Royals hockey team. COA sports medicine program is the largest and most comprehensive in the area which includes:
- Sports Pre-Participation Physicals
- ACL Screening Program
- ACL Injury Prevention Program
- ImPACT Concussion Management Program
- Compartment Syndrome Testing
- Exercise Induced Asthma Testing
- Athletic Training Services
- Physical and Occupational Therapy
- Sports Performance Enhancement Training
Krysta is a graduate of Alvernia University where she received her Masters of Education in 2008, and Bachelor of Sciences in Athletic Training with a minor in Biology in 2006. She became an athletic training student when she sustained a career ending injury while playing basketball for Alvernia in 2001 and spent all of her time in the Athletic Training room.
In addition to her time spent in collegiate athletics she spent two seasons with the Reading Express Professional Arena Football team and has volunteered with the Special Olympics summer games that take place at Penn State University in State College, PA. She has also had experience working various athletic camps during the summer at high schools in Berks County, PA as well as Fantasy Day at the Reading Phillies for Berks County United Way and the West Reading Basketball Summer League.
Her professional memberships include the National Athletic
Trainers' Association (NATA), Eastern Athletic Trainers'
Association (EATA), College Athletic Trainers Society (CATS) and
Pennsylvania Athletic Trainers' Society (PATS).
